Weddings, functions and offsites on the farm

A riverside lawn on the Goukou, an olive grove and three houses for your family and friends. The farm has hosted a wedding before, and the family plan each one with you personally.

Stonehouse is a 70 ha family olive farm on the Goukou River, 10 minutes from Stilbaai, that hosts weddings for up to 120 guests, functions and corporate offsites by arrangement, priced per event. Ceremonies have been held on the lawn beside the river, and the three self-catering houses sleep the wedding party on the farm. Dates, numbers and set-up are agreed with the family for each event.

Beside the river

The lawn below the houses runs down to the reeds and the floating jetty on the Goukou. It is where a ceremony was held on the farm in 2022, with the arch set against the reed bed and the hills behind.

In the olive grove

30 hectares of olive trees planted in 2008 line the farm tracks. Photographs among the rows, or a quieter moment away from the guests, are a short walk from the houses.

Functions and offsites

The farm also hosts functions, family celebrations and corporate offsites by arrangement, with the houses for your group and the river, grove and dam on the doorstep. Tell us what you are planning and we will quote for your event.

Your people on the farm

Stonehouse Lodge, White House Cottage and Grysbok Cottage are all self-catering. Taking more than one house keeps the wedding party together on the farm for the whole weekend.

Wedding questions

Do you host weddings at Stonehouse?

Yes, for up to 120 guests, by arrangement. The farm has hosted a wedding ceremony on the riverside lawn, and each wedding or event is planned with the family. Send an enquiry with your date and numbers.

How many guests can the farm take?

Up to 120 guests for a wedding. Tell us your numbers in the enquiry and Alison will tell you what works on the farm.

Is there a marquee or a venue building?

A marquee has been used on the farm before. Whether one is available or hired in for your date is agreed when you enquire.

What does a wedding or event cost?

We quote per event, depending on numbers, the houses you take and what you need. Send your date and guest count and Alison will put a quote together.

Do you host functions and corporate offsites?

Yes, by arrangement. The houses sleep your group and the farm gives you the river, the olive grove and space to work and unwind.

Do you provide catering?

To be confirmed. Ask in your enquiry and the family will tell you how catering has been arranged.

Where can wedding guests stay?

On the farm, the three self-catering houses sleep 23 between them as standard: Stonehouse Lodge 8 (up to 12 on request), White House Cottage up to 7 and Grysbok Cottage 8. Stilbaai, 10 minutes away, has more accommodation for other guests.

How do guests get there?

The farm is about 4 hours from Cape Town on the N2, about 1¾ to 2 hours from George Airport and half an hour from Riversdale. The last 1.3 km is on the Spuithoek gravel road.
