Stonehouse Lodge, 10 minutes from Stilbaai (Still Bay), sleeps 8 and up to 12 on request in one house, with 4 bedrooms. With White House Cottage (7) and Grysbok Cottage (8) booked as well, the farm sleeps 23, or 27 with Stonehouse at 12. The three houses are within walking distance of each other.
One house that sleeps 12
Stonehouse Lodge is the big stone and thatch house on the hillside, with four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and a wrap-around veranda over the Goukou River. The nightly rate covers eight guests, and up to four more can stay on request for R250 per person per night, twelve in all. It is let as a whole, so a family of twelve has the kitchen, the lounge and the veranda to itself.
Upstairs there is a games area with table tennis and a pool table, and outside a trampoline, an undercover braai area and the shared swimming pool. Rates start at R3 600 a night midweek in low season. See Stonehouse Lodge for the rooms and the full rate card.
The whole farm sleeps 23
For a reunion, a milestone birthday or two families travelling together, add the other houses. Stonehouse Lodge sleeps 8, White House Cottage 7 and Grysbok Cottage 8, which is 23 across the farm, or 27 if Stonehouse takes its twelve. Each house has its own kitchen and braai, so the group can cook together or separately.
A thatched riverside lapa with a stone braai can be booked with the stay, and the river jetty, kayaks and bass dam are shared by all three houses. Ask about the whole-farm rate on the booking request.

Good for a crowd
Bed linen and bath towels are supplied in every house and cleaning is included in the rate. Solar panels and batteries keep the power on during load-shedding. Stilbaai’s supermarkets and restaurants are about 10 minutes away, so feeding a big group is simple, and the farm sells its own olive oil.
